56303 56303 hauls 4O90 1051 Doncaster-Grain at Lockington on the Sheet Stores Jn-Stenson Jn freight line on 08/05/08, the train is currently running via Newark, Nottingham and this route to save running round at Doncaster St Catherines and to keep the Jarvis crews route knowledge up in readiness for the start of Fastline coal trains in mid May. The train got held up enroute from the Lincoln area allowing the clouds to build and the sun angle to worsen, I got jobbed by a small cloud and the shot has been saved in the digital darkroom. Many thanks to Clive at work for stopping on for an extra hour & a bit to cover for me waiting for this train! Added to Class 56 09/05/08

D9009 at Morar After an overnight drive, through Glen coe with numerous deer crossing the road in front of the car with one or two near misses, a memorable journey was topped with finding this view overlooking Morar with D9009 & 55016 working the DPS Freedom of Scotland tour, 25/06/03. 56301 Attenborough The last place I ever expected to photograph a Fastline 56 on the Doncaster-Grain containers was on my doorstep at Attenborough. Today however a phone call at 1320 told me that it had indeed been seen in the Newark Castle area, enter flap mode.. The weather was decidedly hit and miss but with having my daughter in tow I decided against trying the M1 embankment at Lockington, so dashed to Attenborough to check the light angle, not good, so I set off again heading for Lockington afterall, I got a mile or so down the road and looking at the sky I changed my mind and went back, some harsh sun was better than none at all! So here is 56301 on 4O90 Doncaster-Grain intermodal at Attenborough on 24/04/08. The train was sent this way for keeping drivers route knowledge up after the recent road learning ready for the coal contracts and also to save having to run round the train at St Catherines Jn, Doncaster. The train is also routed this way several times over the next few weeks (booked 1222 at Sheet Stores Jn) Added to Class 56 24/04/08

40082 The driver of 40082 opens the power handle wide as this unidentified train rounds Queensville curve just South of Stafford. Date unknown. Apologies for the more intrusive copyright tags, but when the biggest railway company in the country has ripped shots from your site and blatantly used them without permission, I get a bit upset.... See you in court as the saying goes.. Added to PR Collection 20/04/08
66200 at Attenborough A 66 a day keeps the doctor away? Not today, an appointment at the local surgery was running 30 mins late, so I went down to Attenborough which is a stone throw from the surgery rather than just sit in the waiting room. I was rewarded with 66200 on the 6D50 Beeston-Toton infrastructure trip followed closely by another 66 on the Beesotn McIntyres-Toton scrap. Here 66200 is taking power after the route has cleared at Attenborough Jn for the route to Toton, hence the traction sand being applied. Added to Class 66/67 10/04/08

60100 60100 passes Stanton Gate on the up Goods line on 12/02/08 with 6Z87 0810 Doncaster Decoy-Stud Farm ballast empties, I was hoping for this train to be on the up main which is a lovely shot from the lattice footbridge but unfortunately it came on the goods which you cannot get any width with unless you have steps to get above the concrete part of the bridge, which I didn't have with me as I hadn't expected to make a move to here. Added to Class 60 22/02/08
star trails I've had the idea for this shot for months, maybe years but never got round to trying it out, until last week. This is approx 70 x 30 second exposures combined in a freeware program called 'startrails.exe'- the shot is genuine, the signal wasn't added afterwards. I'm disapointed with the blockiness of the sky, but you can't have everything..Added to Miscalleneous 17/02/08

SGT Network Rail's Structure Gauging Train (SGT) uses this optical car to project high intensity light onto lineside structures to measure the distance between the car and the structure, this data is then compared to the data from previous trips the train has made along that line and any changes are investigated as for example a sudden change of gauge inside a tunnel could be a serious problem. Here the vehicle stands beneath the calibration frame prior to departing from Derby RTC. Added to Miscelleneous 08/02/08
