66060 passes a snowy Hatfield & Stainforth with 6C57 0815 Immingham-Eggborough PS on 25/02/04. |
66111 passes Greenhill Lower Jn on 05/08/02 with 4M67 1801 Grangemouth-Trafford Park, whilst waiting (in vain again) for the DRS 37's on the Grangemouth-Daventry. |
66123 crosses the River Trent flood arches at Sawley viaduct near Long Eaton with 6D44 1247 Bescot-Toton on 30/10/06. This is a location I've driven by hundreds of times and always had it in mind to do a broadside with the power station as a backdrop but had never got around to it. |
66127 and 66051 top-and-tail possession train 6B37 0354 Toton-Kirkby through Attenborough on 13/06/07. This was the third time this train had passed this location already! The train was running via the Robin Hood Line and originally got as far as Lenton Jn before it was noted it had 60066 on the train, class 60's are
not passed between Linby and Kirkby Lane End Jn due to being RA8 and the route is RA7, so it was sent back to Toton for a loco change, departing Toton for the 2nd time around 0730, virtually 4 hours late!. |
66135, 56006 and 47150 stand on display at Ratcliffe power station during an E-on staff open day on 23/09/07. |

66192 passes Chellaston between Stenson Jn & Sheets Stores Jn with 6Z64 1030 Rugby-Peterborough on 02/02/07. |
A 66 a day keeps the doctor away? Not today, an appointment at the local surgery was running 30 mins late, so I went down to Attenborough which is a stone throw from the surgery rather than just sit
in the waiting room. I was rewarded with 66200 on the 6D50 Beeston-Toton infrastructure trip followed closely by another 66 on the Beesotn McIntyres-Toton scrap. Here 66200 is taking power after the route has cleared at Attenborough Jn for the route to Toton, hence the traction sand being applied. |
66239 passes a snowy Heamies Farm near Stafford with 4Z61 1030 Trafford Park-Dollands Moor on 29th December 2000. |
66407 hauls failed 66402 on 4M30 Grangemouth-Daventry diverted via the ECML & Derby/Bescot due to the Lambrigg derailment, away from Derby on 06/03/07. 66402 had earlier failed near Darlington and 66407 had been sent to assist from Kingmoor. |
66414 passes Trent with a diverted 4L97 Trafford Park-Felixstowe freightliner on 06/05/08, diverted via Nottingham due to engineering work in the Rugby area. Freightliner are hiring several DRS locos due to a shortage of their own locos. |

66612 passes Stapleford just north of Toton on 01/03/04 with 6M13 0730 Lindsey-Rectory oil tanks. In the early 1990's an oil train derailed here on the up goods
line due to speeding, causing tankers to topple onto their sides and be ripped open, sending thousands of gallons of oil into the local River Erewash which was already
one of the most polluted rivers in the UK. |
66615 passes Toton Jn on 19/04/07 with 6D80 0510 Tunstead-Ratcliffe PS limestone pellets. |
66701 passes Barnstone on the GCR(N) on 10/08/07 with 4M80 2002 West Burton-Hotchley Hill gypsum, I arrived after dashing from work, getting soaked running across a field as I could hear a ying-ying sound
not far away. Fortunately it was going at about 5 MPH, allowing me to take the top off a spikey bush plus recover from falling down a couple of deep rabbit holes and going initially to the wrong spot. That's not to mention hitting a wood pigeon
at high speed on a country lane that nearly put me in the hedgerow.. |
66701 is seen at Hotchley Hill British Gypsum works on the GCR(N) branch on 10/08/07 with 4M80 2002 from West Burton. The grabber has removed one container and the train has then moved off to run round prior to the unloading of the rest of the train. |
66701 is waiting at Hotchley Hill British Gypsum works on the GCR(N) branch on 10/08/07 with 4M80 2002 from West Burton. The train arrived around 30 minutes previous, the lorry drivers are present and correct waiting to shuttle the
containers to and from the unloading pad, but the British Gypsum reach stacker driver has failed to show, causing the lack of action. |
Whilst waiting in vain for a 60 on a tank train which i'd unbeknowingly missed, 66711 appeared on 4M82 West Burton-Hotchley Hill, this train has recently started running and for the previous
couple of weeks ran via Worksop, Pinxton and Toton so to photograph it by pure chance at Attenborough on 10/10/07 was a big bonus. |
After finding by chance the day before that 4M82 West Burton-Hotchley Hill had started running via Nottingham, I camped out around the same sort of time at
Trent and it again appeared, just after Midday. Trent (Long Eaton) 11/10/07. |
66717 passes Ratcliffe power station on 24/08/07 with a slinger train en-route to Wellingborough, I didn't know this train was coming and was lucky to nail it whilst waiting for a HST. |

67005 departs Derby on Sunday 01st April 2007 with 1Z47 0840 Doncaster-Cardiff footex. Despite the good forecast the weather was very hit and miss in the morning, the sun just missing for this shot but completely in for the other train with 67029 on.
The frame of my new office looms in the background, I wonder what the shot will be like from there ?! |
