66012 passes Chevin between Milford tunnel and Belper on 31/07/10 with a 6Z60 0500 Bescot-Gascoigne Wood spoil train. |

At 2359 on Sunday 26/04/09, DBS closed both the yards on the upside at Toton, Old and New Bank. This is due to the current dire financial situation in 2009 causing even further loss of freight traffic from rail, this coupled to the loss of the majority of the coal traffic into Ratcliffe to Jarvis Fastline and Freightliner, left Toton with very little traffic. This will now be concentrated on the Down Yard on the opposite side of the main line, the the upside yards used for storage of redundant assets. Earlier on closure day,
66065 is seen stabled waiting to leave with the last train to grace the New Bank yard, the 1301 Possession train to Cricklewood. |
66065 departs Toton on 30/04/09 with 6K50 1512 Toton-Crewe Basford Hall whilst 3 other 66's wait their turn to leave/arrive at the only yard now in regular use, the Down (North) yard. |
66069 stands outside Stapleford and Sandiacre shunt frame box on 07/02/09 whilst in a possession relaying the access into Toton New Bank. This box will be decommissioned and no doubt demolished later this year when the area signalling is transferred to the Derby EMCC. I stood in a very cold wind for 90 minutes waiting
for the train to propel back into this position, just as it did the sun collapsed into a bank of cloud and never came out again, this being the best light I got. |

66123 crosses the River Trent flood arches at Sawley viaduct near Long Eaton with 6D44 1247 Bescot-Toton on 30/10/06. This is a location I've driven by hundreds of times and always had it in mind to do a broadside with the power station as a backdrop but had never got around to it. |
66127 and 66051 top-and-tail possession train 6B37 0354 Toton-Kirkby through Attenborough on 13/06/07. This was the third time this train had passed this location already! The train was running via the Robin Hood Line and originally got as far as Lenton Jn before it was noted it had 60066 on the train, class 60's are
not passed between Linby and Kirkby Lane End Jn due to being RA8 and the route is RA7, so it was sent back to Toton for a loco change, departing Toton for the 2nd time around 0730, virtually 4 hours late!. |

A 66 a day keeps the doctor away? Not today, an appointment at the local surgery was running 30 mins late, so I went down to Attenborough which is a stone throw from the surgery rather than just sit
in the waiting room. I was rewarded with 66200 on the 6D50 Beeston-Toton infrastructure trip followed closely by another 66 on the Beesotn McIntyres-Toton scrap. Here 66200 is taking power after the route has cleared at Attenborough Jn for the route to Toton, hence the traction sand being applied. |
When I'm on night shifts during the summer, I finish work a few minutes after 6E46 0437 Kingsbury-Lindsey is booked to pass Stenson, so I try to pull in a shot if the sun's shining (and i can catch up with the thing), I managed 3 shots during this week and this was the best of the bunch. Unfortunately no longer a class 60 turn, the train hauled by a named 66200 passes through Attenborough station on 16/07/09. |

66301 catches the sun as it passes Trent on 10/12/08 with a coal train for Ratcliffe power station from Daw Mill, the train has just passed the power station but due to it only having a rail connection facing North, trains from the South have to run round at either Toton or in this case, Beeston. |

I called in at Derby station on the way home from my night shift more in hope than knowing that a freight would get stopped, 56302 on 4E90 rolled straight through but 10 minutes behind 66426 working a diverted 4Z43 0430 Daventry-Grangemouth got briefly stopped whilst a Matlock-Nottingham unit crossed its path. |

not far away. Fortunately it was going at about 5 MPH, allowing me to take the top off a spikey bush plus recover from falling down a couple of deep rabbit holes and going initially to the wrong spot. That's not to mention hitting a wood pigeon
at high speed on a country lane that nearly put me in the hedgerow.. |

couple of weeks ran via Worksop, Pinxton and Toton so to photograph it by pure chance at Attenborough on 10/10/07 was a big bonus. |
After finding by chance the day before that 4M82 West Burton-Hotchley Hill had started running via Nottingham, I camped out around the same sort of time at
Trent and it again appeared, just after Midday. Trent (Long Eaton) 11/10/07. |

Recent tree felling by contractors clearing the way ready for a flood defence wall to be built has opened up this view at Trent Meadows between Trent Jn and Attenborough Jn. The felling left in place a 30ft 'totem pole' which is at a reasonable angle for climbing, allowing this eastbound view of 66954 passing with the diverted 4L90 Lawley St-Felixstowe liner on 04/04/09. |
