High Speed Train's
	43059 brings up the rear of 1F10 0825 London St Pancras-Sheffield as it passes Breadsall North of Derby on 19/03/07.
	A Midland Mainline HST heads South at Sawley just after dawn on 30/03/06 with the 0638 Derby-St Pancras (1C07), Ratcliffe Power station looms in the background.
	A Midland Mainline HST led by 43050 runs along the up slow line at Sutton Bonnington on the Midland Mainline North of Loughborough, as 5C00 Etches Park-Cricklewood for "hot spare" duties in case of set failures in the evening peak.
	A busy scene at Derby on 07/08/07 as MML's 43049 departs working ECS from Etches Park to Nottingham, a Central 156 departs on a service to Crewe and a voyager arrives on a 5H32 Central Rivers-Derby ECS working. Notice the nearly completed shell of the Network Rail EMCC on the skyline.
	43058 and its set in the new East Midlands Trains livery brings up the rear of the 0630 Nottingham-St Pancras through Attenborough on 06/05/08.
	43082 departs Derby station whilst working the 1324 Sheffield-St Pancras and passes Etches Park depot and the Serco yard on 16/09/07. A Network Rail 101 test unit can be seen in the RTC sidings along with an assortment of coaching stock.
	43007, soon to transfer to the new Arriva cross country franchise, passes Ratcliffe on soar power station on 24/08/07 working the 1424 Sheffield-St Pancras MML service.
	Newly reliveried in EMT house colours 43058, set NL04 and 43048 make a colourful sight heading South at Chevin near Belper with 1C25 1027 Sheffield-St Pancras on 08/05/08.
	Not quite what I had in mind when I was tempted out for a 5Z40 Neville Hill-Brush move, I'd already left when it was posted that it was 43105 under its own power and not hauled by 47828, but a novelty it is so it was duly recorded. Sutton Bonington 09/06/08.
	Lookng smart in cross country colours, 43357 leads 9V59 Glasgow Central-Plymouth from Milford tunnel towards Duffield on 21/10/08.
	Approaching Trent East Jn on 25/11/08, an EMT HST forming the 1530 Nottingham-London catches the glow of the setting sun.
	I've been practising a few panning pictures after a couple of dodgy attempts after falling out of practice, this is 43083 heading from London to Nottingham at Attenborough, 06/03/09. Panned at 1/100th of a second.
	43310 & 43251, the final Brush overhauled power cars for NXEC are officially handed over at a ceremony at Brush works on 17/03/09.
Multiple Units
	On 28/07/07 a Meridian class 222 DMU departs Nottingham as the 1207 to London St Pancras viewed from the little used multi-storey car park which is a great vantage point for photography.
	On 28/07/07 156404 & 153364 depart Nottingham as the 1156 Robin Hood line service to Mansfield Woodhouse.
	Modern Units cross at speed at Attenborough on 03/08/07 with 170630 working a Nottingham-Cardiff train and a Meridian 222 unit working ECS from Etches Park to Nottingham.
	Serco class 150 DMU track recording unit no.950001 rushes through Attenborough on 08/08/07 working 2Q08 0640 RTC-Lincoln-RTC test train.
	156410 departs Thorpe Culvert on 21/06/00 with a Skegness-Nottingham service, note the signalbox which is suffering from significant subsidence, this has since been rebuilt and the crossing gates replaced by barriers.
	156407 passes Pinxton signalbox on 11/10/01 whilst forming 2D11 1015 Nottingham-Worksop, the train was diverted via this route due to an engineering blockade on the Robin Hood line. This signalbox was recently decommissioned during the Erewash valley resignalling project and the route now comes under the control of Trent PSB, prior to control passing to the new EMCC in 2008. Pinxton signalbox has now been relocated to the Midland Railway Butterley. Note a lamp post and signal have been removed from above the train.
	Perfection?! Not quite, as 66155 passed over in this position, 156408 on 2E59 0936 Leicester-Lincoln was just coming under the bridge, so this is a composite image of 2 frames taken approx 3 seconds apart. Trent, 18/09/08. To view the original shot of the 66 click here
	170102 in old MML livery with Central Trains embellishments passes Attenborough Nature reserve on 12/09/07 with a Birmingham-Nottingham service.
	In the final days of the 101 Met Cam units working on the mainline, 101685 'Daisy' calls at Romiley on a service from Marple to Manchester Piccadilly on 23/12/03.
	Following overhaul at Delta Rail in Derby & looking very smart in its newly applied EMT livery, 158783 passes Attenborough on 12/11/08 with a Nottm-Leicester-Nottm test run
	Although I dislike the short days, low sun and long shadows which make standard railway photography more difficult at this time of year, on the other hand I like the arty lighting available and beautiful skies on offer! This is an EMT 156 passing Attenborough in nice lighting on 14.11.08.
	A busy scene at Vauxhall on 12th February 2009 as 450007 approaches with a train from Waterloo, as a 455 waits to depart and a 444 passes on ECS to Clapham.
	8011 & 8022 head East passed Barnes on 12/02/09 with a service for Waterloo.
	EMU's 8011 & 8022 on the left, and 450085 in the middle head West as 450562 call on the right with a train for Waterloo at Barnes on 12/02/09. Behind me just off the bridge is the shrine to Marc Bolan at the tree that brought about his demise in 1977.
	I must have been mad to do this, but on Monday 26/01/09 I got up at 0415 to make my way to East Midlands Parkway to record the first train to use the station on its opening day. There were a handful of staff (and contractors who are still working at the station), plus one fare paying passenger to greet the 1st train, although there was an official opening with media & guests at a more civilised time!
	156414 passes Attenborough on 02/03/09 showing the tree felling in progress in readiness for works to build a flood defence wall adjacent to the railway, a £35 million pound project to protect Nottingham from a 1 in 100 year severe flood.. Part of the lake is to be infilled along this section to allow enough space to drive down the piling into the ground.
	221120 coasts the last 1/2 mile into Derby on 31/03/09 around 15 minutes after sunrise with the 1O18 Nottingham-Bournemouth service.
Steam
	After photographing a 67 hauled Northern Belle special, I waited here hoping for a freight, which I wasn't lucky enough to get but this turned up, not exactly my cup of tea but it'd be rude not to press the shutter release. 60009 Union of South Africa, 47804 & a support coach pass Breadsall north of Derby on 24/08/07 as 5Z09 0805 York NRM-Crewe HC.
	60532 Blue Peter races through Attenborough with a special from Grimsby, chartered by the Grimsby Evening Telegraph to celebrate their centenary.
	60007 Sir Nigel Gresley hauls 1Z59 York-Birmingham charter up Trowell bank on 28/02/09. About 30 minutes later the skies cleared out to nice winter sun..
Industrial
	The pipe works at Stanton is up for closure with the work transferring overseas, this was meant to be in April but the plant appears to be still in use, albeit at reduced capacity. On 24/05/07 Sentinel shunter "Katie" is seen with a ladel en-route for loading in the main shed.
	At Stanton pipe works on 24/05/07 Katie hauls a flat to the loading bay to collect a ladel whilst out of use Ken awaits the plant closure and probably the cutters torch.
	On 24/05/07 Sentinel "Katie" is dwarfed by the size of the main works building as she propels a flat loaded with a ladel beneath the loading bunker.
	During a brake van ride around the Scunthorpe steel works complex on 08/06/08, 51 waits to follow the tour with a train of flats, with another loco waiting behind.
	No.78 brings up the rear of a top-an-tailed molten iron Torpedo train in Scunthorpe steel works, 08/06/08.
	No.30 on hire from HNRC unloads coal from its MGR hoppers into the bottom discharge pits, the conveyor then takes it to this neat stockpile at Hope cement works, 04/09/08.
	no.95 shunts a rake of slag hoppers in front of the "4 queens" blast furnaces at Corus Scunthorpe on 13/09/08, during a visit to the AFRPS depot. Note that a recent change in management at the Corus site has seen a ban on all photography at the site apart from at the AFRPS platform & depot.
Arty / Creative
	Perfect timing?? Not quite, two images of a few seconds apart have been combined, 82146 leads the EWS managers train passed Sutton Bonington running as 5Z05 1355 Toton-Kings Cross on 29/05/07, a few seconds later a Thomson branded jet crosses the MML on its final approach to East Midlands Airport, this is the lowest I have ever seen a plane come in whilst stood at this location.

	Central Trains at Snails pace? I've been wanting to do some different stuff other than standard 3/4 views for a while, and I think this falls into the 'different' category! Possibly the best way to view a modern unit though?? A snail makes its way off a fence post at Attenborough whilst a Central 156 approaches in the background.
	Derby RVEL 13/08/07, 56057/301.
	Thou shalt not enter. 31105 is spied through the crack in the workshop doors at RVEL on 19/08/07, and Yes, the loco is meant to be out of focus... 31105 is currently undergoing overhaul at RVEL to prolong it's useable life for Network Rail test trains.
	At 0550 on 1st May 2007, Catching the first rays of the early morning sun that had just cleared the horizon, a Midland Mainline Meridian unit passes Wilmorton on departure from Derby running as 5B06 0539 Etches Park-Nottingham, disturbing two crows from their overnight roost.
	47804 and floral accompaniment, Trent loop 09/09/07. The train was stabled there overnight after late running on Saturday evening saw it unable to return to Derby due to engineering work at Spondon, the late running was partly caused by the failure of 47804 with low coolant.
	Whilst on the way home from a night shift on 02/10/07 I noticed these strange looking clouds over Attenborough and with the light still being low I headed to Barton Lane crossing with the idea of a slow shutter shot to show a blurred train against the interesting sky... Shutter speed was 1/125th @ F8 on 200ASA
	47854 is seen on the rear of a Leicester-Llandrindod charter at Kegworth on 21/04/07, although the original shot I took was a silhouette, there were unsightly power cables in the sky area so the image has been combined with a sunrise scene photographed on 30/10/07.
	66051 approaches Sawley viaduct on 02/11/07 with 6D76 0658 Toton-Bardon Hill,I was being harassed by a herd of cows here, with them stood right in front of me sniffing at my camera bag!.
	66115 approaches Lock Lane crossing at Sawley on 02/11/07 with an EWS coal working,for the 3rd morning in a row there was a great sunrise, but this was the only day I got out of work in time to record a train against the light, but the Crimson and orange tinges to the clouds had almost gone when the train arrived.
	Network Rail's Structure Gauging Train (SGT) uses this optical car to project high intensity light onto lineside structures to measure the distance between the car and the structure, this data is then compared to the data from previous trips the train has made along that line and any changes are investigated as for example a sudden change of gauge inside a tunnel could be a serious problem. Here the vehicle stands beneath the calibration frame prior to departing from Derby RTC.
	I've had the idea for this shot for months, maybe years but never got round to trying it out, until last week. This is approx 70 x 30 second exposures combined in a freeware program called 'startrails.exe'- the shot is genuine, the signal wasn't added afterwards. I'm disapointed with the blockiness of the sky, but you can't have everything..

	60013 approaches Lock Lane crossing at Sawley with 6E46 0437 Kingsbury-Lindsey empty tanks on 19/04/08. The shot was taken as a silhouette but the sky has been enhanced to look better than it was.
	A weed grows from the ballast in a siding, in photoshop a new duplicate layer was created and the colour was removed from that layer, then carefully using the eraser tool the layer was removed from the leaf allowing the colour from the original layer to show through.

	Whilst waiting for the sun to appear on an EMRPS photo charter at Hope cement works on 04/09/08, the eye turned to trying to catch something unusual.. This was a drip from a canopy falling onto a rain soaked flat wagon.

	37884 arrives in Chaddesden sidings with the 6T18 0835 trip working ex Toton, a JCB is already at work emptying a previous days wagons of spent ballast.
	Nottingham Express transit tram no.205 streaks away from Nottingham station on the last service of the evening for Phoenix Park.

	At the La Farge Hope cement works on 04/09/08, the daily business continues whilst a photographic charter takes place, here the groundstaff manually open the MGR doors to empty the coal into the pit below. Once all the doors are open, he will take the air line seen behind him and assist the coal to fall through the grills into the pit.

	Passengers arrive for their trains whilst others enjoy a coffee at the stall in the booking hall at Nottingham on 21/07/08, when I worked here the site of the coffee stall was taken up by the large WH SMith stall, which was subsequently moved into a new shop made within the old parcels loading archway.
